GENERAL QUESTIONS
How do I get a Petit & Me Custom Carrier?
First, you will have to get a slot. Slots are released every first Friday of the month, on this website.
Check the Slot release schedule for the exact data.
The VIP slot is offered from time to time when time permits this FastPass.
In the Petit & Me Custom Babycarrier chatter and also on the regular FaceBook Page you will find collabs too from time to time with either semi custom slots or Ready to Sell carriers.
You might also want the check the shop if there is a carrier in stock that suits your wishes.
What is a VIP Slot?
The VIP slots is your FastPass ticket; you will skip the waiting line and your carrier is ready to be shipped within 2 weeks after receiving the wrap! Your wrap needs to be shipped to Petit & Me within 7 days.
I have a slot, what is next?
If you have a regular slot, it will take about 3 months before the carrier is made. Time to start thinking about your wrap! Do you want something easycare, thin & airy for summer? Or thick and wooly for winter? I am happy to assist and together we go through your stash!
Before you slotmonth starts, you also have to select all your custom carrier wishes at the “Design your Carrier” page. Designing your carrier will generate a quotation that I will check together with you when it’s time for your carrier.
If you have a VIP slot, your carriers needs to be shipped to Petit & Me within a week.
I don’t know what wrap to choose?
You are not the only one. Besides the emotional part, you want to choose the best wrap ever offcourse. Feel free to contact me to discuss your doubts and we will choose the perfect wrap together.
For a full wrap conversion, 2 layers, I need a wrap of at least 230 gr/m2. (For a PreSchooler I will use an extra C&C layer on the inside for extra strength). Is your wrap thin or loose woven (mostly HW), then we add extra layer(s) of C&C.
Also consider blend; easycare or not. If you choose one of your longer wraps I might be able to do a carrier plus a RS or other extra’s.
What size wrap do I have to ship?
That depends on your wishes; carrier type, size f.e. If you want a full buckle full wrapconversion (inside & outside both made of your wrap), I need a size 3. For a half conversion or semi (full straps f.e.) I require a RS for this type of carrier.
At each carrier section you can find the required size at General Info.
And; always feel free to contact me to check what the possibilities are with your wrap(scrap). Petit & Me is known for being able to do magic with very little scrap. It all depends on a combination of your wishes; carriersize & extra’s, the wrappattern, width & length.
When do I ship my wrap?
For the regular slots, please make sure the wrap is in 2 weeks before your slot month starts. F.e.: If you have a February slot, your wrap must be in 15th of January.
How should I pack my wrap to ship to Petit & Me HQ?
When shipping a wrap/scrap to me, please make sure it is well packed. Please put in a small note with your name on it.
You can ship your wrap to:
Petit & Me
Winterjan 8
6662 HC Elst
The Netherlands
The wrap is shipped, what is next?
Now it’s time to fill in the order form! You can find it here: go to order form.
Not sure about some details? Feel free to contact me and ask! Also; the orderform is a starting point, it’s great to have some details already figured out, but we go through the form once the wrap is in and your slot is due! So, no worries if you are still a little bit in doubt. Just fill in as much as possible and use the comment field for your doubts.
Can I get special customization on my carrier?
Yes, but within limits.
I appreciate you, the customer, being involved in the creative process to make a carrier uniquely yours. However, I will not alter the core elements of my carriers and reserve the right to refuse customization requests that will not measure up to the high standards of my carriers.
Also, I highly respect the core design elements of other brands of carriers that make them uniquely theirs. In light of this, please don’t ask your the carrier to be made ‘like so-and-so company’s’ design.
Yes, it’s my slot month!
Exciting!! The wrap is at Petit & Me and I will contact you at the beginning of the month to go through your quotation together. We discuss all the options you selected; size, pattern placement. And, by then I can also let you know how much scrap will be left, maybe enough for a Ringsling or an accessoire?
Will you keep me posted?
Yes! Every month I make my own planning for the wrapconversions, and once I start with yours you will get some photo’s (if you want offcourse) and I will probably post some updates on social media.
I make all carriers 1 by 1, so maybe yours is already done at the beginning of the month, maybe it’s the last one.
When do I pay and how?
Once we have the final order I will make a final invoice for you. The balance (carrier minus slot) needs to be paid before shipment, so before the end of the month.
You can choose to transfer by bank or I can send you an invoice by Paypal. Dutch customers can also request a “betaalverzoek”. If you choose to pay with Paypal goods fees will be added; 3.4% plus 0.35 ct. (within Europe)
When is my carrier shipped back?
By the end of your slot month, when all carriers are done, I give them all a final inspection. Then I make the last photo’s on the mannequin doll and start packing. All carriers are shipped on the last day of the month.
Please make sure the adress you fill in when buying the slot is correct, this is the address I use for shipping the carrier back. You will automatically receive an email with the track&trace code.
I don’t want to wait untill the end of the month if my carrier is done already!
If your carrier is already made at the beginning of the month and you want to have it shipped already, instead of waiting until the end of the month, you have to pay an extra fee (€ 20,00) to cover the extra time for packing and getting the parcel to the post office.
Normally I take photo’s , pack & ship all carriers at once in 1 day as that is most efficient.
CARRIER RELATED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between a full wrap-, half wrap- and semi wrap conversion?
A full wrapconversion means the whole carrier is made from your wrap, inside & outside.
A Half wrapconversion is made from your wrap on the outside, combined with plain color all cotton wrapfabric from Collimaçon et cie on the inside.
A Semi wrapconversion is inbetween a full and a half. Mostly it’s a carrier with the shoulderstrap completely made of your wrap, and the backpanel & waist half.
I have all color samples from C&C here, as soon as the wrap comes in, I put them on the wrap and you choose the inside color.
What about a semi conversion?
A semi conversion is somewhere inbetween full and half. For example full straps, but a half backpanel & waist. Or full straps & waist, but a half backpanel.
Which size do I choose?
All sizes can be found at the specific carrier page. The sizing is based on EU clothing size. It’s up to you to decide if you want a carrier that fits right now, or maybe, if you already have a carrier that fits right now, you go for a carrier that fits in a few months.
Do I have to choose the size at the moment I buy the slot?
Yes and no. If you have a very small scrap and I make a calculation for 1 size, it might be possible we can’t upgrade the size once the slot is coming up. Let me know in case you have doubts on what size to choose.
Before I start cutting I always go through the quotation with your wishes one last time. To double check size (and all your other wishes). Do you want a carrier to grow in, or do you need one that fits at THAT moment?
What is the difference between the shoulderstraps?
You can choose a carrier with straight or with curved straps.
The straight straps can be crossed or your back, the curved ones can’t. If you carry your little one in front of you most of the time, I would recommend the straight straps. By crossing them on the back the weight is perfectly balanced. You can also backcarry with the straight straps, all carriers come with a wrapfabric cheststrap.
If you mostly do a backcarry, you might want to choose the curved ones. They can not be crossed, but with a backcarry you have to / don’t want to cross! The shape of the straps make them suit your body perfect, sluiten mooi aan.
What is the difference between the regular and combowaist?
The regular waist is completely filled with closed cell foam. The combowaist is a combination of closed cell foam in the middle for support and soft foam on the sided.
What hardware do you use?
Only the best hardware is used for your carrier. Buckles & webbing from YKK and yarn from Gutterman.
What happens with any scraps of wrap left over from my conversion?
All left over scraps larger than 5 cm will be sent back to you with the finished product.
